Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act Program

The Pueblo of Isleta WIOA Program serves eligible Native Americans residing within the Bernalillo and Valencia Counties in New Mexico. The WIOA Program is here to provide Workforce development & placement services for youth and adults ages 14 and up. The WIOA Program also provides tuition assistance for Certificate Programs with accredited institutions.

Core Services

Include job search, resume writing, and information about available services.

Intensive Services

Include testing and assessments, Development of an Individual Employment Plan (IEP), Case Management, and Supportive Services.

Training Services

Include Work Experience and Classroom Training.

Supplemental Youth Services

Isleta Casino Albuquerque Employment

Is a year around program for ages 14 to 21 with employment and educational goals.

Eligibility Requirements

Priority is given to those who reside on the Isleta reservation.

Youth Program:

  1. Must be a Native American, Alaskan or Hawaiian Indian.
  2. Must be between 14 and 24 years of age.
  3. Must be a low-income individual as defined at WIOA sec. 3 (36). Up to five percent of the participants during a program year in an INA youth program may not be low-income individuals provided they meet the eligibility requirements of paragraphs (a) (1) and (2) of this section.
  4. If applicable, all male applicants 18 or older (born after 1960) must also register or be registered for Selective Services.
  5. Must reside on or near the reservation.

Isleta Casino Employee Clinic

Adult Program:

  1. Must be a Native American, Alaskan or Hawaiian Indian.
  2. Must be 18 years or older.
  3. If applicable, all male applicants 18 or older (born after 1960) must also register or be registered for Selective Services.
  4. Must be unemployed, underemployed, low income, a recipient of a bona fide layoff notice which has taken effect in the last six months or will take effect in the following six month period, who is unlikely to return to a previous industry or occupation, and who is in need of retraining for either employment with another employer or for job retention with the current employer, or an individual who is employed but is determined by the grantee to be in need of employment and training services to obtain or retain employment that allows for self-sufficiency.

*Note: If the applicant is male and 26 years or older and has failed to register with the Selective Service and is no longer eligible to register and is not exempt, then the applicant must obtain a “Status Information” letter from Selective Service indicating the applicant’s Selective Service status and the applicant must document that he did not willfully and intentionally fail to register. Once the applicant obtains the Status Information letter, the grantee may determine whether or not to provide services to the applicant.
